LiPhoFe - Limassol Photography Festival

The LiPhoFe (est. 2023) invites the audience, both educationally and artistically, to immerse in a photographic unique experience, it is a new and innovative festival, commissioning and producing exhibitions across the city of Limassol, alongside an ongoing programme of talks, events, workshops and training through a partnership model of collaboration.

The festival aims to provide platforms for national, international, established and emerging photographers, and an extensive outreach and engagement programme with schools, community groups and higher educational institutions.

In its first edition, LiPhoFe was titled “Place or Landscape” and took place at Limassol Molos (Caffè Nero square) between 20 Oct and 12 Nov 2023.

“Place and Landscape are two words and concepts which at first reading, although they may look similar or even often seem to be the same, can easily fool their reader or the viewer of any, in the broader sense, space.

Through their photographs, the participating artists visually translated the everyday life but also the local identity. The question that arises is whether it is the landscape that became a place or the place that eventually became the landscape that sometimes are familiar and sometimes completely alienated for each and every one of us.”

In its second edition was titled "Athlos" and was dedicated to sports photography showcasing a total of 7 parallel, mainly outdoor, exhibitions featuring sport. As much as 28 local and international photographers showcased various sports and world competitions, as well as portraits of renowned athletes.

The "LPF - Limassol Photography Festival" has been certified as part of the Cultural Olympiad for 2024 by the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This label awards the synergy of the Festival with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
